چکیده

Many compelling models predict dark matter coupling to the electromagnetic current through higher multipole interactions, while remaining electrically neutral. Different couplings have been studied, among them anapole moment, electric and magnetic dipole moments, millicharge. This study sets limits on for these photon-mediated interactions using non-relativistic contact operators in an effective field theory framework. Using data from PICO-60 bubble chamber leading masses between 2.7 GeV/c$^2$ 24 are reported of matter-nucleus interactions. The detector was filled with 52 kg C$_3$F$_8$ operating at thermodynamic thresholds 2.45 keV 3.29 keV, reaching exposures 1404 kg-day 1167 kg-day, respectively.

Acoustic Sensor Design for Dark Matter Bubble Chamber Detectors

Dark matter bubble chamber detectors use piezoelectric sensors in order to detect and discriminate the acoustic signals emitted by the bubbles grown within the superheated fluid from a nuclear recoil produced by a particle interaction. These sensors are attached to the outside walls of the vessel containing the fluid. The acoustic discrimination depends strongly on the properties of the sensor ...

First Dark Matter Search Results from a 4-kg CF3I Bubble Chamber Operated in a Deep Underground Site

New data are reported from the operation of a 4.0 kg CF3I bubble chamber in the 6800 foot deep SNOLAB underground laboratory. The effectiveness of ultrasound analysis in discriminating alpha decay background events from single nuclear recoils has been confirmed, with a lower bound of >99.3% rejection of alpha decay events. Twenty single nuclear recoil event candidates and three multiple bubble ...

Bubble Chamber Experiments on Charmed Particle Lifetimes

The three current bubble chamber experiments on charmed particle lifetimes are compared. Their most recently released results are discussed. Although single charmed decay vertices have been seen in bubble chambers before, this discussion will cover the three current experiments. Two are at CERN and the third at SLAC. All use bubble chambers with relatively high resolution photographic technique...
